Bonney Loop Sewer Replacement

This project involved abandoning the existing in-place sewer line located in the Richardson Theater parking lot at Fort Shafter and installing approximately 680 feet of new 8-inch-diameter sewer pipe, along with seven new precast sewer manholes ranging from seven to twelve feet in depth. The new sewer system was constructed along Funston Road and Bonney Loop.

The project was performed on an accelerated schedule in advance of a USACE project to renovate the historic Richardson Theater as a communications center, including placement of a new satellite dish in the theater parking lot directly above the existing sanitary sewer. The project also required flexibility in the alignment and construction due to the presence of several historical features of the theater and surrounding grounds that were required to be preserved, avoided, or restored to specific conditions.
