Aliamanu Military Reservation No. 1 Force Main B
U.S. Army Garrison, Hawaii
Aliamanu Military Reservation

The design and construction of FM-B is split into two Sections: Section 1 covers scope within the AMR crater, and Section 2 covers scope from the Aliamanu crater rim to the gravity sewer system on the Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) installation. Section 1 (AMR1 SPS to AMR Crater Rim) Construction began in early 2023 to install the new 16-inch fusible PVC sewage force main, along with associated vaults and appurtenances. Approximately 4,250 linear feet (LF) of transmission system was installed by open trench through the AMR field, Puakika Street, Rim Loop, and Aliamanu Drive, up to the crater rim overseeing the Moanalua Freeway. Section 2 (AMR Crater Rim to TAMC) The scope for the areas outside AMR is currently in design with an anticipated construction award date in 2025. This scope consists of approximately of 2,000+ LF of 16” FPVC from the AMR crater rim down the crater slope under the Moanalua Freeway (HDOT interstate H-201), through the City and County of Honolulu drainage and streets, and couple of private properties before heading back up to Tripler Army Military Center connecting to the existing gravity system. Installation challenges through this corridor include slope construction and stability, rockfall mitigation, traffic control, storm water management, and various 3rd party coordination for utility easements and access.
“I’ll sleep better having the backup force main in place.”
